IT is music to the ears of a youth organisation!

Wales YFC is releasing a single which will be a cover of the song ‘Bydd Wych’ by Rhys Gwynfor in recognition of Welsh Language music day, while also drawing attention to a Welsh language mental health charity.

The song will include signers from all 12 federations across Wales, in co-operation with signer and TV presenter Lisa Angharad and BBC Radio Cymru.

The project is funded by the Welsh Language department of the Welsh Government.

The single will give a soloist from each county an opportunity to showcase their talent, as well as the Wales YFC choir, which will include members from all of Wales and Wales YFC officers and staff.

The recording will take place in the Galeri, Caernarfon, as well as Bont Pavilion, Pontrhydfendigaid, during January with the single being launched on Dydd Miwsig Cymru itself - February 7.

As well as being recorded professionally, all recording sessions will be filmed to create a video to coincide with the single.

The journey from the recording to the launch will be followed by Ifan Evans’ radio programme on BBC Radio Cymru.

From February 3-7, this single will be the track of the week on BBC Radio Cymru.

Ifan Evans will be following the whole journey while speaking to contributors of the single.

Wales YFC will be donating a percentage of the money from downloads of the single to a mental health charity meddwl.org

The ‘meddwl’ charity is based on a website where support can be found; whether that’s reading about other experiences, learning more about mental health or information on where to get help.

Dydd Miwsig Cymru is a Welsh language music day aiming to celebrate all kinds of Welsh music.

Wales YFC would like thank the organisers of Dydd Miwsig Cymru from the Welsh department of the Welsh Government for funding this project.

The single will be available for download on Spotify from February 7 with a launch event being held during the evening in Pontrhydfendigaid Pavilion.

If members wish to join the choir, the recording will take place in Pontrhydfendigaid Pavilion this Sunday, January 12.
