Do you know your county?

A COUNCIL has launched a training scheme for Denbighshire businesses to learn about the county in a bid to boost tourism.

Denbighshire County Council’s online learning platform titled ‘Arts in Denbighshire’ aims to improve tourist information on leisure, history, heritage and environment in the region. In its Tourism Strategy 2020-22 the council said “raising the profile of the county as a place to visit” would boost economic potential.

It wants people to visit throughout the year, stay longer and spend more money during their trip.

According to STEAM, the Denbighshire tourism sector has more than 6,000 jobs and in 2018 brought £509million into the local economy.

The online training modules include major cultural festivals, arts and crafts, music, and film, theatre and storytelling. There are bronze, silver and gold awards for the number of modules completed, as well as a certificate, pin badge and window sticker.

It is funded by the Welsh Government and European Agricultural Fund’s Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which supports economic and social development in rural communities.
