A 45-year-old man was refused bail on Monday when he appeared in court accused of possessing a shotgun with intent to cause the fear of violence, and affray, following what the prosecution described as a siege situation at his home.

James Murray, of Lower Foel Road, Dyserth, said to work in maritime security, was remanded in custody until January 31 at Mold crown court.

Prosecutor James Neary told a district judge at Llandudno court that police had been called early on December 29.

Defence solicitor Graham Parry, seeking bail for Murray, said: "He’s very anxious to have bail and emphatically denies responsibility for these offences.”
