A MYSTERY donor is helping bring Christmas cheer to lonely people in Denbigh
The secret Santa in a demonstration of festive good will has given £150 to organisers of an event to provide Christmas dinners to people who will be on their own over the holiday period.
“We have one mystery donor who left £150 in a shop in Denbigh,” said Mrs Lilian Jones one of the lunch organisers together with Mrs Iona Jones.
“We’d love to know who it is to say thank you, but we also want to respect the donor’s privacy if that is what they want. I’m sure this has been done in a true Christmas spirit.”
Parishioners at St Thomas’ Church, Vale Street, for the last six years have provided a Christmas Day lunch with carols, for people who will be on their own. Lilian added: “We organise transport for people to get here and also take Christmas dinner out to people who can't. The meals are free and everything is funded by donations by members of the public who either give money or food. All the cooking is done by volunteers, it wouldn’t happen without them, and that includes the washing up, although we do have a dishwasher. After the meal we all sing carols and will have a happy time." Booking is essential so people should telephone Iona (01745 813256) or Lilian (01745 813426).
