A GROUP of North Wales counsellors are are offering a friendly ear to socially isolated pensioners throughout Denbighshire this Christmas.

From Monday, December 23 until New Year's Eve, Tuesday 31 anyone over the age of 70 is eligible for a free, one hour video chat online with one of five Talk Sally counsellors.

Talk Sally is a new service which launched in November by Glan Conwy therapist Sally Jones alongside other practitioners in North Wales, which offers professional counselling sessions and a more informal talk service online.

Darren Jones, of Talk Sally, said:"We are now offering free one hour video call appointments for the over 70's during the festive period to combat social isolation.

"The service essentially gives a one hour video call to our team of counsellors with the advantage of having minimal wait times, and being able to have your chat from wherever you may be, for example on a smartphone in your car during your lunch break.

"On the video platform we have, users can disable their camera if the wish to the pressure off chatting.

"We don't want anybody to be alone this Christmas and New Year, we want them to talk to us tell us how they feel, tell us their life story, whatever they like."

Video chats can be made with any device which has the facility to video call and good access to the internet, including smartphones, tablets or a home PC and client confidentiality is guaranteed. All counsellors are professionally qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in Counselling Skills or have significant experience in a listening environment.
