GESTURES of goodwill for community have once again been at the heart of the festive season in Towyn and Kinmel Bay.

More than half of the town's councillors have maintained the tradition of forgoing their yearly allowances to fund a variety of generous gestures to the town's food bank, schools and residential homes as well as Glan Clwyd Hospital.

Working with the councillors, six businesses in the area and multiple anonymous donors have also contributed by funding food hampers for selected families in both towns.

Cllr Morris Jones, mayor of Towyn and Kinmel Bay, said: "As councillors, we work hard throughout the year to do as much as we can for the community, but at this time of year it's even more important to thinking of children and families and do what we can to bring them together."

Starting a week long series of goodwill activities on Monday, December 9, mayor cllr Morris Jones and his fellow councillors Nigel Smith, deputy mayor David Johnson and Barry Griffiths have taken to the aisles of ASDA for a trolley dash at Asda to donate food to the food bank at the Kinmel Bay Church on St Asaph Avenue.

Cllr Jones, alongside mayoress Lynne Jones, visited both Ysgol Maes Owen and Ysgol Y Foryd to donate selection boxes to pupils, as well as nursing homes Bay Court, Kinmel Lodge, Alistair House and Church Manor received chocolates and biscuits.

The mayor and cllr Johnson also paid a visit to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital in particular the Children’s Ward and Oncology Unit, where gifts and chocolates were received by children and patients who are in hospital over Christmas.
