TWO red telephone boxes in Denbigh town centre have been given new lines of use.

Denbigh in Bloom (DIB), the gardening volunteer group, arranged the installation of a defibrillator at one of the old boxes outside Denbigh Library. It follows a creative effort by the group last summer when it planted a nearby box with shrubs as part of its winning Britain in Bloom entry.

Helena Cawthray, vice chair of DIB, said: “We wanted to use the second box because the defibrillator was at the Citizens Advice Denbigh office, which closes at night and on weekends.”

The Welsh Ambulance Service moved the equipment to its new location.

“It is so important to have defibrillator access in the centre of town, especially when big events are on,” Mrs Cawthray said.

Mrs Cawthray will carry out monthly checks so that the defibrillator is in order.
