A CALL for volunteers to pack shoe boxes with Christmas goodies for children in Rumania has been made by the Shoe Box appeal organisers
The appeal has been running for 30 years.
Kate Owen, the district coordinator for the Teams4U charity which runs the appeal said: “We need volunteers to join us filling the boxes from Monday November 18 until the following Friday at Rhos-on-Sea Methodist Church.
“The boxes hand out love to children in Eastern Europe who have nothing, and this year they will go to Rumania. The boxes full of and donations will be collected from schools and churches in Anglesey, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Conwy, and Flintshire.
“We will organise and fill them with the donated gifts such as hats and scarves toys, soap, toiletries sweets and sweets and wrap them with Christmas paper.
“In the past the charity has sent more than 10,000 shoe boxes to Eastern Europe
“We get a lot of support from the Mochdre based Grand Prix express parcels delivery company who will collect the boxes every night next week and take them to the charity’s Wrexham HQ every night for onward delivery to Rumania”.
