POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary of the home of a vulnerable elderly woman.
The incident happened at the 93-year-old woman’s home in Handsworth Crescent, Rhyl, early yesterday evening, Wednesday, November 6.
Detective Inspector Elfyn Hughes of St Asaph CID said: “This was a sickening incident which targeted a vulnerable woman in her own home. The victim was not injured but was shaken by the incident.”
“We are keen to trace two males who were seen leaving the address; one was wearing a black hooded top, trousers similar to jogging bottoms with a black scarf across his face, possibly with a pattern on it. The other is described as being dressed in black.”
They stole a quantity of cash before leaving on foot and detectives are progressing the investigation.
DI Hughes added: “I would urge anyone who has any information or has seen anything suspicious in the area at around 6pm on Wednesday November 6 to contact us.
“I would also urge family and neighbours of elderly and vulnerable people to keep an eye on them, discourage them from keeping large quantities of money in their homes and to make sure they keep doors and windows locked.”
Anyone who may have any information relating to this incident, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area is urged to contact St Asaph CID on 101 or use the live webchat https://www.north-wales.police.uk/contact/live-chat-support quoting reference 19100649147.
