Strike planned for North Wales coastal trains

RAIL passengers travelli9ng between Chester and Holyhead could face disruptions this month.

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) has called a strike on Virgin West Coast trains for 24 hours on Tuesday, November 19.

The company's West Coast franchises covers Virgin trains which travel between London and Holyhead, with all train manager members instructed not to book on between 12.01am and 11.59pm on the day.

According to a statement released by the RMT, the strike action will take place in solidarity for a "sacked and victimised member" following the failure of ongoing efforts to resolve the issue between the union and the franchise's' management.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: β€œI urge all Virgin West Coast members to continue their magnificent solidarity and support for our colleague who has been treated so disgracefully. We cannot allow this appalling situation to continue and our member must be reinstated.

β€œIt is time for the company to stop their aggressive and bullying tactics and sit down with us and right this wrong which has angered staff across the West Coast franchise.”
