TRICK-or-treaters went all out this Halloween as they flocked to Rhyl and Prestatyn.

Both towns hosted Spooktacular events on October 31. In Prestatyn High Street and Nant Hall Road there was face painting, pumpkin carving and painting, a meet and hold with creepy characters, a witch hunt as well as a chance to ride on a spooky bus.

In Rhyl, there was stilt walking witches and visitors in fancy dress were treated with sweets.

May Gillard, 83, got in on the action and posed for a photograph with the two vibrant witches in Rhyl.

A spokesperson for Rhyl Town Council said: "Scores of people turned out for Rhyl’s Halloween activities.

"People of all ages got into the spooky spirit and came out to be treated by stilt walking witches. Free face painting set youngsters up for a day of trick and treating, and even animals got in on the action with dog Bella coming along in her Halloween finery.

"Sweets were given out with medals for children in fancy dress."

Rachael Astle, of Prestatyn Town Council, said: "I would say we had about a thousand people attend. It was surprisingly busy. Halloween is one of those which everyone turns out for.

"There was some really good colourful and imaginative costumes.

"The high street was brought to life. It was really well supported by the shops.

"Thank you to everyone who attended. We wanted to fill the length of the town centre. Children loved the the bouncy dome. It was like a disco inside.

"We had a stilt walker and villains playing with the kids. We also had temporary tattoos and children were able to hold a tarantula or snake."
