AN ART exhibition and competition ran at Prestatyn Old Library.

This was held at Artisans Collective to mark the end of the Voluntary Art awards.

Aimee's Friday Art group, held at the centre, was shortlisted for the second year running.

The exhibition was also held to celebrate the creativeness of the Prestatyn community.

A spokesperson for the event said: "Independent judges nominated a first and second place, plus a people's choice was also awarded.

"There was a fantastic response to the competition and showed that the community spirit within Prestatyn."

Judges were cllr Tony Flynn, mayor of Prestatyn, Prestatyn Iach's occupational therapist Alexis Conn and artist Paul Young.

"The judges carefully looked over each piece and found the decision very hard as the standard of work was a very good, they had wonderful things to say about each piece," the spokesperson added.

First place was given to Glenys Lakin who produced an acrylic on canvas piece called Barn Owl.

Second place winner was Sue George with her colourful Prickly Native.

The people's choice award went to Mark Thompson for his detailed artwork named Warren.
