A FLOOD warning is in place for the lower Dee Valley.

Due to heavy rain over the past 24 hours, a number of flood warnings and alerts are in place across the region.

National Resources Wales has updated its listings and it is now reporting 11 flood warnings and 40 flood alerts across the country.

One flood warning is in North Wales and it covers the lower Dee Valley from Llangollen to Trevalyn Meadows.

Natural Resources Wales reports: "In addition to the area detailed, some localised flooding problems may result from surface water.

"Flood defences are now in operation and the situation on site is being constantly monitored.

"River levels are above normal but flooding of property is not expected at the moment.

"River levels at Farndon are rising and are expected to do so for the next 18-24 hours."

Among the flood alerts is the Clwyd catchment, Alyn catchment and Conwy catchment.

Meanwhile, North Wales Police is reporting flooding on Gors Road in Towyn. North Wales Police is urging people to avoid the area.
