WORK has started on a car park in Rhyl which will include two electric vehicle charging points.

Contractors have started groundworks on the short-stay car park on the site of the former Post Office building on Water Street, which will house 36 spaces and will be known as the Town Hall Car Park.

Work is expected to be completed early in the new year.

Cllr Brian Jones, Denbighshire County Council’s lead member for Waste, Transport and the Environment, said: “I’m pleased to see work has started on this site.

“Once completed this car park will improve access within the town centre, one of the key priorities identified by residents as part of our consultation on the Vision for Rhyl town centre document.

“This will also be the first council car park in the county to feature electric vehicle charging points. The Council has also undertaken a study to identify potential locations for electric charging points for public use in existing car parks.”
