Pupils at Llandysilio Church in Wales School had the pleasure of taking part in a chocolate making workshop recently.

The event was run by Coco Pzazz of Caersws and is the start of a unique collaboration that will see the school partner in the development and production of its own custom range of chocolate bars.

Headteacher Amanda Williams said: “The opportunities for the school with this project are significant.

“Everyone is enthused by the idea – staff included as you can imagine – and the children have been inspired by the workshop to learn all about all things chocolate, from production, packaging, profits, fair trade, links with schools in Ghana and even more chocolate tasting.”

Lori Whinn, director at Coco Pzazz, added: “I am thrilled to be supporting this initiative.

“It’s unique and very different from our normal projects so I’m really excited to see how it progresses and how the pupils benefit from the learning.”

School governor Ian Hodgkiss, who was on hand to assist with some of the chocolate making, said: “With ever increasing pressure on school budgets we saw this collaboration as fantastic way for the school to create an additional revenue stream and incorporate real world learning into day-to-day school life.

“We’re looking to have the school products available early December so would be grateful for local business support in stocking them.

“They’ll make fantastic Christmas presents for the benefit of the school and its pupils.”
