THIRTEEN new housing association homes are to be built on a site opposite to the Trefnant Inn.

Adra Housing Association is branching out across North Wales with work starting on its first new-build development in Denbighshire.

The homes are being built in the £1.7 million scheme on the former green-field site.

The homes will be a mixture of eight two-bedroom homes, four three-bedroom homes and a two-bedroom detached bungalow. The homes are being built by local company, Brenig Construction.

Adra provide quality homes in North Wales and look after 6,300 homes, providing services and support to more than 14,000 customers.

They have completed their first schemes at Wrexham and Conwy with many more in the pipeline. Last year, Adra were approved to be zoned in Conwy, Denbighshire and Wrexham and most recently in Flintshire, which means they can now apply for Welsh Government grants to build affordable homes in these four counties as well as Gwynedd.

Adra Chief Executive, Ffrancon Williams said: “As a progressive and growing company, we are aiming to build 550 new homes over the next three years. We have formed great new partnerships with local authorities, with the Single Access Route to Housing (SARTH) housing register and affordable housing register, Tai Teg as well as with many contractors and developers who will work with us on building these homes.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our partners at Denbighshire Council for welcoming us as a new partner. We look forward to developing many more homes with their support over the coming years. There are exciting times ahead.”

Brenig Construction, Group Managing Director, Mark Parry said: “It is great to have been awarded a further development scheme to construct 13 new houses for Adra. Brenig will be employing local people and using the local supply chain to deliver these much-needed homes in Denbighshire. "We will also be providing a number of apprenticeship and training opportunities as the works progress.”

It is anticipated that the homes will be complete by winter 2020. If you are interested in renting one of these homes, please register your details with SARTH: housingregister@denbighshire.gov.uk or 01824 712911.

The scheme is being funded by Adra and the Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant.
