MOTORISTS are being warned of major roadworks being undertaken in Rhyl.

The £430,000 project, being funded through a Welsh Government grant, will begin on Sunday, September 22.

The area around the A525 junction of Marsh Road and Vale Road near Morrisons is being resurfaced and the existing traffic signal system, which has been in place for 15 years, needs replacing.

Work will also take place on the bridge next to the junction as part of the same programme of works and will be carried out at the same time, to avoid two periods of closures.

During the works, traffic will be diverted along Bryn Cwnin Road and Grange Road and will be signposted.

Councillor Brian Jones, Cabinet Lead Member for Highways,Environmental Impact,Waste and Sustainable Travel, said: “ The works being carried out are essential and is part of the Council’s commitment through its Corporate Plan to improve the road network. We recognise that both the junction and adjacent bridge are extremely busy and we have decided to coincide the works, to avoid two separate sets of closure and too much inconvenience.

“We would like to thank people in advance for their co-operation and for apologises for any inconvenience the work may cause."
