STAFF at a care home in Rhyl have seen their efforts recognised after a recent inspection.

Bradshaw Manor, situated on the promenade, was praised by the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) for its clean and homely environment, its good facilities and numerous communal areas.

The care home, which looks after up to 66 people, was also praised for its staff training - described as comprehensive - and for having enthusiastic established staff.

The report by the CIW stated: "A solid management structure is on hand, which values all staff and their contribution, to facilitate the smooth running of all aspects of the home.

"There is an open and transparent approach, which gives people and their families a real sense of confidence in the organisation and reinforces a culture of learning by experience.

"People have a good range of group and one-to-one activities to keep them active and stimulated and people receive support to enable them to exercise choice and to be as healthy and independent as they can be."

The report added that people live in an accommodation which maximises their independence and potential.

"We observed the lunchtime dining experience on Memory Lane and saw that staff support was discreet and delivered with warmth at a relaxed pace in a quiet environment, meaning that people were not rushed and were enabled to make choices around personal preferences and how their support was undertaken," it stated.

Heidi Crompton, senior general manager at Bradshaw Manor, said: “We are delighted that Bradshaw Manor was rated Compliant overall following the CIW’s most recent inspection.

"The team at Bradshaw Manor always strive to provide the best possible quality care for everyone who lives here.”

Requirements and recommendations outlined in the report included to replace and refurbish older furniture and furnishings and to support the needs of people with cognitive impairment to help them make successful choices in relation to personal preferences.

To thank the teams for their hard work in contributing to the rating, each member of staff was presented with a £100 voucher.

Bradshaw Manor care home is run by Barchester Healthcare.
