A Denbigh businesswoman who suspected a 27-year-old man had burgled her beauty salon last year had been insulted in the High Street by him, a weekend special court heard.

Matthew Erangey, of no fixed address, hadn’t been convicted of an offence following the burglary, magistrates at Llandudno were told by the prosecution.

But Erangey was jailed for 14 days after he admitted threatening behaviour on Thursday.

Prosecutor Diane Williams said Erangey had been threatening towards the woman and her partner and held back by his apologetic father. He was subject to recall to prison.

Michael Pugh, defending, said Erangey was freed from prison a week ago but found himself living on the streets. There was an exchange of words, the defendant maintained, and Erangey insisted he hadn’t targeted the burglary victim last week.

A two-year restraining order was made by the court.
