A HORTICULTURAL show on Anglesey recently celebrated its sixtieth birthday.

Held on Bank Holiday Monday, the Aberffraw & District Horticultural and Craft Show provided a magnificent showcase of gardening and artistic talent.

There was a great turn out of people at the event and the diamond celebration theme was cleverly interpreted in baking, cake decoration, knitting, photography and paintings, alongside some spectacular entries in fruit, vegetables and flowers.

Prizes were presented by 2019 President, Medwyn Williams, who is himself a 12 times Gold Medal winner at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

There was also a special presentation from Edna Jones who has judged the cookery sections since the very first show was held.

A spokesperson for the event, said: "Many thanks to the local businesses who have donated so generously to the raffle, as well as those who supported the show by helping set up, stewarding, and making teas and cakes.

"And of course, a very special thank you to those who have worked hard through the year to grow flowers and vegetables and hone their crafting skills so as to put on another brilliant display."

"It is a real community event and everyone involved works exceedingly hard to produce such a fabulous show.

"It’s so nice to see everyone come together and we are already starting work on next years show. Everyone is welcome to come along with new ideas or help make it even better."
