HUNDREDS of people turned out for an eye-catching display during a coastal car show in Abergele.

About 60 cars were on display throughout the weekend during American Classics at the Castle.

Organisers Corvettes by the Coast teamed up with Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust in order to host the event.

Adam Slater, organiser, who was supported by his wife Hayley, said: "It was very busy and well attended.

"We had DJs (Wyn Meirion and Anne Rogers) and we had an evening meal at Kinmel Manor. We are still totalling up how much we raised.

"We had a few downpours on the Saturday. There wasn't a bad picture though because of the backdrop. Everybody loved the venue."

The event featured classic Corvettes and classic American Cars, plus American themed stands, music and refreshments. There was Papa's BBQ, Hog Roast and Catering, Dovecote Brewery as well as charity stalls.

Money was raised in aid of Hope House Ty Gobaith Children’s charity and Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust charity.

Adam hopes to host the event again next year.

"We hope it really puts Abergele on the map," he said.

"It also opened a difference audience as well. We had people that came from Liverpool and Manchester.

"A lot of work went into the event. It has been all hands of deck.

"The guys from Gwrych Castle were very good supporting us."
