NORTH WALES' first Drag Off competition has been postponed indefinitely.

Prestatyn organisers of the event The Garden Den have made the decision due to a lack of entrants since the competition was launched in January.

Short of a surge of applicants, the special effects company and events organisers will now fold the competition - which was due to take place at Rhyl's Late Lounge venue in September and would have featured a series of challenges and performances involving Drag artists in character - into their upcoming Wales Has Talent competition in October at The Little Theatre.

Danielle Johnson, who conceived the idea, said: "It is with great regret that we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Drag Off.

"Unfortunately with the resources we were working with and contestant numbers we made the decision that, in comparison with the other upcoming events such as Wales Has Talent and others of the same genre, we were not going to be able to put on the same calibre of show that we normally produce.

"We don’t as a company want to compromise the event and give it less than it is worth.

"All of the contestants who entered have been formally invited to enter Wales Has Talent for its second year.

"If we do however get enough calls to reinstate the show we will take this into consideration in the future."
