THE Rhyl Journal office has been broken into overnight.

North Wales Police received a call at 6.43am today (Wednesday) reporting that the Rhyl Journal office on Kinmel Street had been broken into.

The front door has been smashed and three charity boxes have been taken as well as a till.

Beci Marchbank, telephone sales manager for North Wales and Chester, said: "They [the offenders] kicked the door in. We have had a break in before but it was years back.

"They smashed up the front door, we believe it was about 4am this morning.

"They have taken the till and all the charity boxes. They have taken three charity boxes, they were quite full [one for St Kentigern] and they have ransacked reception.

"I am fuming. Livid.

"This is the third of fourth one [break-in in the area]

"They have left a lot of mess but it is the damage and the time.

"For them to target another local business, it is very unsettling."

Officers and forensic teams have visited the property and the team have cleared the glass away.

Other businesses in the area that have been targeted by offenders recently include Reeds Rains: Estate Agents & Letting Agents and Tim's Coffee Lounge.

Inquiries are currently ongoing.
