A FLINT masseur has thanked those who have supported her as she is shortlisted for a regional award.

Barbara Masters from Flint opened Serenity Acupuncture and Holistics at Lyons Den Fitness in Bagillt last January.

The company offers customers acupuncture and massage treatment as well as reflexology, aromatherapy and facials.

She has celebrated the news that her, and about five others, are finalists for the North Wales Young Business Awards, for the category of businesses under two years old.

Barbara said: "It makes me really proud. I set up a business on my own, as a single mum and a carer for my mum.

"It's nice to be recognised when you work hard and I have worked really hard over the last 18 months to get to where I am today."

The Leader has previously reported that Barbara was shortlisted, and then won the name of, Face The World practitioner of the year 2019.

She added: "They had seen that I had won the practitioner of the year award and someone contacted me to tell me about it and so I thought why not and I applied.

"Last week I had an email saying I was a finalist and I couldn't believe it.

"I was chuffed to bits with the other award and I though that would be enough for one year but then I find out I have the chance to win another.

"For those worried about making the leap of starting their own business, I would recommend doing it.

"Don't be scared, there's loads of organisations that can help you.

"Just do it. It's well worth it and is one of the most rewarding things I've done.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to all my clients and everyone who has supported me."

The finalists will attend Bangor University on September 28, where the winner will be announced.
