A WREXHAM florist is planning on celebrating 30 years in the job by swimming a mile for each of her working years, all in aid of her favourite charity.

Laura Evison, 46, from Rhosddu, who started out as an apprentice in 1989 at Regent House of Flowers and took over running the Yorke Street business in 2006, will swim the 1,930 lengths over the course of 30 days, for her chosen charity, Hope House Hospice.

She said: "This September, I will have been with Regent House of Flowers for 30 years, so as a way to celebrate wanted a challenge, but one that fit in with my working hours.

"Swimming has helped me over the last few years to cope with working the way I do, keeping me focused and helping with my mental health it also to keeps me fit and energised before I start my usually very long busy days!

"So it seemed very fitting that I could combine it with a personal challenge to celebrate my 30th year."

Laura will be starting the first of her near 2,000-length charity swim at her local pool, Waterworld, on September 2 and is hoping to take a dip at least five days a week.

She added: "If I meet my target I am hoping to get at least 126 lengths in every session and complete in 15 days, if I'm really energised I will do more!

"But the other most important reason for doing it is to raise as much as I can for the fabulous Hope House Hospice.

"For those not familiar to the charity they support young people and their families in Shropshire, Cheshire, Mid and North Wales, to give help to young people and their families to be as comfortable, happy and fulfilled as they can be whether it is a bereavement, palliative care at home or support and counselling for families on the loss of their child.

"So if anyone would like to like to help me celebrate my 30th year and support my challenge by making any donation, large or small, they will be gratefully received."

If you would like to support Laura in her challenge, she has a Just Giving page set up -
