A COUNCIL expert has asked a resident to seek advice about their trees after one came crashing down on a car.

The Leader reported on Friday (August 16) how a tree fell from a resident's garden in Pwll Glas in Mold, damaging cabling and a car which had been parked in the road.

Residents then expressed their concern about other trees in the road, in particular a large one next to the location of the fallen tree.

Deborah Edwards, a resident of Pwll Glas and the owner of the damaged car, called on Flintshire Council to come out and inspect the remaining trees in Pwll Glas in order to be "on the safe side."

Steve Jones, Flintshire Council's chief officer for streetscene and transportation, said: “Streetscene services were called to Pwll Glas, Mold last Friday afternoon to assist in removing a privately owned tree which had fallen and blocked the nearby highway.

"The road was re-opened at approximately 9pm on Friday night.

"Flintshire Council does not own the trees along the road however, the council’s tree inspector has made contact with the owner and requested that they take advice from an independent tree specialist on the remaining trees within the grounds of their property.”

Resident Ann Neale shared photos of the fallen tree, which ended up landing across her garden and right next to a bench she said she frequently sits on with her grandchildren.

Describing the moment it happened, she said: "We were not outside when it came down but we heard a big bang. I thought someone had crashed through the wall."
