FAMILY and friends gathered to celebrate an 'inspirational' woman's milestone event.
Ruth McKnead recently celebrated her 100th birthday at Llys Eleanor extra care housing facility in Shotton, where she was surrounded by family and friends.
Deborah Johnson, activities co-ordinator, said: "We held a huge party for Ruth, who was 100 years young.
"Family and friends turned up to celebrate the day with her and she had a breakfast trolley with flowers. It was beautiful.
"She does still exercise, she walks every day and still uses the stairs. She is so independent and requires no care, she's an inspiration."
Llys Eleanor is an extra-care housing set up to support independence amongst adults with some care needs.
