A COMMUNITY has come together to give a Wrexham school a much needed makeover.

Volunteers have come together to rejuvenate Holt CP's front garden space.

School governor Sarah Lidell said: "We were discussing how the appearance of the school needs to be improved.

"I decided to start a project which would be completed in stages because it's so big.

"Phase one has been completed and we are eager for phase two, when we will get two benches."

Sarah said it is a group project consisting of children, parents and governors.

She added: "I think it's really important the community is involved, to take ownership with it.

"Especially with the children because it's their school. The future of the school is about them and getting them to plant things gets them involved.

"It's hoped a gardening club will be formed when it's complete and a council will be set up to maintain the area.

"We are really thankful to Bellis' garden centre who have been helping us along with this project and donated much needed supplies.

"We are looking forward to continuing with this project, it's really important for the future of the school."
