A £1.6 MILLION-POUND scheme is set to provide nine social rented homes at Clwt y Bont.

The largest housing association in north Wales Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG) joined forces with contractor R L Davies to build the homes.

The 'affordable properties' are a mixture of six two-bedroom houses and two three-bedroom houses. A specially adapted bungalow will also be built to meet the needs of a local family.

Daniel Parry, Assistant Director of Assets at CCG said: “We are very proud to be working with R L Davies on this development in an area where demand is extremely high.

"They are a local and experienced firm based at Colwyn Bay who will deliver many economic benefits to the area through this exciting scheme, including job and training opportunities.

“As a progressive and growing organisation, we are aiming to build 550 new homes across North Wales by 2022.

"As we continue to strengthen our relationship with contractors and developers we aim to meet the housing needs and provide people with affordable quality homes in their local communities."

Delyth Davies from R L Davies added: “These new affordable properties, which will include a special needs bungalow for a local family, will be a great asset for the community and will assist CCG in reaching its vision to provide 550 new affordable homes to those in housing need by 2022.

“Our community is important to us as a company and we look forward to being able to offer work packages to local companies, local employment as well as work experience and work placement while promoting the Welsh language throughout.”

It is anticipated that the houses will be ready to let in autumn 2020.
