THE community council of a village near Corwen has appointed a new member.
Bryneglwys Community Council issued a notice of a by-election scheduled for September 5. Mark Andrew Tustain was the only candidate put forward and he was therefore elected unopposed.
The village is situated about seven miles north-east of Corwen and recorded a population of nearly 370 at the last census.
Last year a by-election at the Bryneglwys council, which has six members, was stood for by two candidates and received a voter turnout of 156.
Community councils are voluntary organisations run by residents with the aim to make a village or rural community safe and attractive to live and work in. They can lead community projects and events, and represent their their community in discussions with larger authorities such as the county council.
