CAERNARFON moved back to the North Wales Cricket League Division For summit thanks to a convincing eight-wicket win at Llanrwst 2nds.

The promotion chasing Cofis’ made light work of their opponents after another standout display with the ball, restricted the home side to just 54 all out from 15 overs in the middle.

Ian Morgan was once again at the very top of his game during a relentless nine over spell that saw him claim a hugely impressive five-wicket haul for the loss of just 30 runs.

He was assisted considerably at the other end by Barry Roberts, who helped himself to four scalps at the expense of 13 runs, and Llyr Erddyn Davies also got in on the act with a solitary wicket late on.

Things did not start well for the away side at the crease as skipper Huw Erddyn Davies was trapped lbw by Adam Thomas for a duck, and opening partner Jason Parry soon followed him when he was run out by Thomas after contributing five.

That was as good as it got for the Rwsters’ as unbeaten knocks of 18 and 17 from Morgan and wicketkeeper-batsman Grant Peisley saw the visitors over the line for the loss of two wickets after 17 overs of play.

The Cofis’ are now one point ahead of Conwy 2nds as they prepare to welcome Llangollen on Saturday.
