A GROUP has reached its goal and has raised enough funds to buy televisions for a hospital ward.

Rhyl Fundraising group Belief presented a cheque for more than £4,000 to ward sister Michelle Eaton, Rhian Lappin and the team on the care of the elderly ward at Glan Clywd Hospital.

Steve Evans, founder of Belief, was joined by fellow fundraiser Yvette Green.

Steve, who was inspired to raise the money after visiting his mother in law and Belief member Eirwen Hughes in hospital, said: "It has taken just under four months to reach our target since the campaign was launched.

"We decided to raise the money as we noticed that despite the best efforts of the dedicated and hard working staff, there was an extreme feeling of loneliness.

"It is amazing we have reached the target in such a short space of time. It just goes to show what a kind and generous community we live in."

Steve said the televisions will help alleviate boredom.

"They have a positive effect on patient well being, giving access to news and current events and keep them connected to the world," he said.

"To install the tv's, the ward needs special 'set up's' as there are no aerial points, so need a special box and software to run the telephone service.

"This would cost around £5,000. A price we believe anyone who has visited the ward will tell you is a price worth paying."
