A £2.3 MILLION affordable housing development overlooking Marine Lake in Rhyl has been completed ahead of schedule.

The scheme, developed by ClwydAlyn Housing in partnership with the Welsh Government and Denbighshire County Council, includes four three-bed family homes and a further 12 one and two-bed apartments in Westbourne Avenue.

Rhyl-based contractors N.W.P.S. were originally due to complete the homes by the end of this month but families were able to move in to the four houses in February with tenants moving into their new apartments from July 8.

Craig Sparrow, Executive Director of Development for ClwydAlyn said: “We are absolutely delighted that this scheme has been delivered ahead of schedule creating much needed affordable housing for local people.

“It is a stunning location with the new properties overlooking Marine Lake. We’d like to thank the contractors’ team for all their hard work and also thank our partners at Denbighshire County Council and the Welsh Government for their investment in the scheme.

“The transformation of Rhyl is a great success story, and this is a sparkling example of a new affordable housing development featuring as an integral part of the wider regeneration work, making Rhyl a great place to live and work, as well as visit.”

The development was made possible thanks to Welsh Government Social Housing Grant secured in partnership with the Local Authority, along with private finance secured by ClwydAlyn.

Paul Seymour, Director of Resident Services for ClwydAlyn added:  said: “These new homes are a real asset to the town and it’s lovely to see residents moving in ahead of schedule. We are very proud to be part of the transformation of the town and we hope the residents will all be very happy in their new homes.”
