THE site where a former pub stood is set to be transformed into a McDonald's drive-thru restaurant.

Land at the former Crown Bard Public House has been earmarked for the development.

Plans have been submitted to Denbighshire County Council by McDonald's Restaurants Ltd. More than 65 full and part time staff, mainly from the local area, will be recruited.

The restaurant will have a drive thru facility, car parking as well as a child play area.

A statement, in support of the application, reads: "The application is located on cleared and unutilised brownfield site of the former Crown Bard Public house and large car park to the rear, adjacent to the roundabout linking A525 to Ffordd Derwen.

"McDonald’s will employ local contractors to maintain and manage both hard and soft landscaped areas on a regular basis.

"The customer seating area comprises 140 covers for visitors to eat their meals within a relaxed modern environment. The 144sqm dining area will include a variety of seating types and table sizes tailored to the customers' needs.

"The restaurant shall maintain a strict protocol for ensuring noise and disturbance is kept to a minimum. All shift managers shall receive conflict resolution training sufficient to ensure they can deal effectively with noise or anti-social behaviour.

"The restaurant management is keen to work in partnership with the local police in order to prevent crime and disorder in the local area, this will include such tasks as providing witness statements to the police in the event of disorderly behaviour, as well as providing CCTV footage for evidence.

"The CCTV system can also be used to capture footage of customers’ vehicle registration plates, in the event that they act in an anti-social manner or litter on the site."
