A PRESTATYN man died after a caravan being towed along the A548 Coast Road jackknifed into his path, it was revealed at the opening of an inquest on Monday.
Father-of-two Shaun Buckley was driving a flatbed recovery vehicle near Tanlan, Ffynnongroew, on July 6.
The five-berth caravan being towed by a Nissan Qashqai was travelling in the opposite direction when it swung out into the opposite lane. Mr Buckley’s truck hit it before colliding with another vehicle.
Mr Buckley, 41, of Ffordd Pendyffryn, Prestatyn, was flown by air ambulance to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool but died the same day.
At the brief inquest opening in Ruthin Elizabeth Dudley-Jones, assistant coroner for North Wales East and Central, said he suffered major chest injuries.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
