POWER has been restored to a town centre
Hundreds of households and businesses in Welshpool were hit by a power cut shortly after midday on Monday.
A spokesman for Scottish Power said the power-cut was "unexpected" but that they anticipated power would be restored after a couple of hours, by around 2.15pm.
Although a number of businesses temporarily closed during the outage, power was restored in most parts of the town centre by 2pm.
The Scottish Power spokesman said: “There is a power cut affecting the SY21 postcode area of Welshpool.
“We did not know in advance there would be a power cut, and became aware of this at 12.11pm.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and thanks you for your patience.”
