THESE babies melted hearts as they took to the water for a Splashathon.

Water babies dressed up as pirates and princesses for the event to raise money for Tommy’s Children’s Charity.

An event was held on Sunday, June 30 in Abergele Leisure Centre.

There were also events in Colwyn Bay, Corwen and Wrexham .

More than £5,000 was raised as part of the North Wales element and the whole Water Babies network raised about £500,000.

Claire Edwards, franchisee of Water Babies North Wales, purchased the North Wales part in May.

She said: “The Splashathon really does take a lot of hard work, I was really thrown in the deep end. We are the smallest franchise so we are delighted with what we have made.

“Everyone dressed up and Peppa Pig is a big part of the event.

“With the youngsters we have levels from chapter one to 17. Little ones did a moving swim and an underwater swim. They did an underwater hoop swim with a treasure chest. The whole event was centred around the pirate and princesses theme.

“The parents got into the water with the babies but they do so anyway.

“We teach them about water safety for when they take the children swimming by themselves.

“It was really nice how the parents joined in with their theme.

“There was a lot of fun. We had a ball.”
