YOUNG people in Caernarfon are being offered the chance to work with artists in creating a mural.

Following a discussion with local residents and businesses who had shown an interest in seeing murals around the town, it was decided that the young people would have the opportunity to work with CARN artists, namely Abbie Parry, Ffion Pritchard and Tegid Roberts in order to create a series of murals that interprets what the town means to some of the local young people.

The mural forms part of a joint project between Gwynedd Council’s Youth Service, Grŵp Cynefin and CARN offers an opportunity to young people in Caernarfon, Llanrug and Dyffryn Nantlle to create a mural in Caernarfon.

Chloe Ward of Cyfuno said: “As the network coordinator for Cyfuno Gwynedd, it’s great to see the amazing work done by all involved in the mural in Caernarfon. Seeing young people co-working through the medium of art on this project was brilliant.”

Cllr Dilwyn Morgan, Gwynedd Council's Cabinet Member on Children and Young People matters added: “The project has provided young people an opportunity to learn new art skills, socialising and making new friends from different areas of the county. I look forward to seeing the mural when it is unveiled.”

It is hoped to mural will be displayed in the park opposite the Black Boy pub in Caernarfon and that the unveiling will happen in the near future.

The project is funded by the North Wales Police PACT fund and the HWB Caernarfon fund.
