FFION Pennant has started her important role as the Welsh development officer within Wales YFC.

From Rhydymain, in Gwynedd, Ffion is a member of the Meirionnydd federation.

She has just finished studying a degree in mathematics at Aberystwyth University.

The purpose of her role will be to develop the use of the Welsh language within the organisation by working with each federation individually, as well as developing partnership work with other youth organisation across Wales.

Ffion also hopes to highlight the work that the organisation undertakes regarding developing and promoting the Welsh Language.

Upon starting in the role, Ffion said: “It is an exciting feeling being a member of staff within Wales YFC.

"As a member that has had numerous opportunities as a result of the YFC, I see this as an opportunity to give something back.

"I have a number of ideas as how we could promote the use of the Welsh language within the organisation and I’m looking forward to the opportunity.

"In relation to the post, I see it as an opportunity to highlight all the work that the organisation already does for the Welsh language that is not widely known. I look forward to meeting and working with everyone, see you all in the Royal Welsh Show!”

One of the first tasks that are on Ffion’s list is to create a plan for the year ahead.

She hopes to promote the Welsh language within a variety of areas.

These will include the media and social media.

Wales YFC wishes to acknowledge the support of the Welsh Government in the development of this new role for the organisation in 2019.
