A FLINTSHIRE man has been remanded in custody for his own safety after he was confronted by a paedophile hunter group.

David Edwards , 62, is alleged to have engaged in sexualised chat logs on the Internet with a female he believed to be a girl of the age of 13.

But a court heard he was communicating not with a teenage girl but with an adult decoy.

Members of the ‘Leave our Children Alone’ group went to Edwards’ Buckley home on Thursday, a Mold court was told.

Prosecutor Nicola Wyn Williams told a weekend sitting of North East Wales Magistrates Court that feelings were running high.

She said as there was no alternative address available Edwards should be remanded in custody for his own safety.

The case against Edwards, now of no fixed abode, was sent to a plea hearing at Mold Crown Court on July 12. He was remanded in custody in the meantime.

No pleas were entered but he indicated he would be pleading guilty in the crown court.

He is charged with attempting to incite a girl aged 13 to engage in penetrative sex acts, attempting to incite a girl aged 13 to engage in non-penetrative sex acts and engaging in a sexual conversation with a child.

Defence solicitor Sally Stokes said no bail application would be made at this stage.
