STAFF at a fun club have been left "over the moon" after a glowing inspection report.

Little Lambs Fun Club is an after-school and holiday club based at Ysgol y Faenol, Bodelwyddan Infant School. It cares for a maximum of 48 children under the age of 12.

The club was rated excellent by the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) in Wellbeing and Leadership and Management and Good in Environment and Care and Development.

The (CIW) report stated: "Children are happy and thoroughly enjoy their time at the service. They are highly motivated to make choices and can contribute their views and preferences extremely confidently.

"Staff know children well and respond to their individual needs promptly and effectively. Leaders ensure children are cared for in a safe environment with a range of interesting and exciting areas and resources to enhance their play and learning.

"Resources are of good quality and all play areas are welcoming and exciting to children.

Little ones celebrate the fun club's excellent rating in inspection areas - Well-being and Leadership and Management

"The service is managed effectively with innovative methods used to increase staff enthusiasm and encourage parent participation."

Samantha Maitland-Price, owner of the fun club - who is also the proprietor of Little Lambs Day Nursery based in Kinmel Bay, said: "We opened the fun club in 2008. I was honestly so excited when I found out how we had done. We were thrilled to be recognised and to demonstrate the hard work by staff.

"We focus a lot on outdoors play. I'm over the moon."

Sam is also celebrating after Little Lambs Day Nursery was shortlisted for National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA)’s Supporting Staff Well-Being Award.

To help the nursery become a finalist, parents wrote praising testimonies and voted.

Sam added: "To be recognised - a little setting in Kinmel Bay, it's amazing and shows what we put into it.

"I live, sleep and breath it. This is all I have ever wanted to do since I was 16

"Parents have to write comments and opinions and we are just overwhelmed. We had to send in evidence to support our staff. We were up against four other nurseries in the UK but we are the only ones in Wales to be shortlisted.

"For me, the staff are the backbone of the nursery

"At the end of the day to have them recognised is just tremendous."

Purnima Tanuku, NDNA chief executive, said: "A huge well done to Little Lambs Day Nursery. This is a fantastic achievement for them.

"They should be extremely proud of their amazing and hard work in the early years sector and all that they do supporting young children."

Broadcaster Katie Thistleton will be revealing the winners at the ceremony at the Chesford Grange hotel in Warwickshire on June 28.
