PLANS have been put forward for more than homes in Prestatyn.

Macbryde Homes is behind the plans, earmarked for land to the South of Amberley Park, with the site being accessed from the end of Ffordd Cae Felin.

The development is set to consist of 114 homes ranging in size from two to four bedrooms. The maximum height of the dwellings will be two storeys

A total of 50 per cent of the homes will be open market tenure, and 50 per cent affordable tenure.

A Planning, Design and Access Statement, prepared by Barton Willmore on behalf of applicant Macbryde Homes, states: "The site is located to the West of the settlement of Prestatyn and is located off Alexandra Drive.

"It is currently used as grazing land and extends to approximately 3.46 hectares.

"It is bound by residential properties to the North and East, with a caravan park located to the South and Plas Newydd Farm and grazing land to the West.

"The proposed development will provide on-site car parking provision for between two and four car parking spaces depending on plot size, and each proposed dwelling will benefit from its own private garden.

"The proposed layout takes into account the character of the development and is sensitively designed to ensure that the Site is not overdeveloped, and to ensure the creation of a high-quality living environment."

Confirming plans for new homes in Prestatyn, Gwyn Jones, managing director at Macbryde Homes, said: “We are very excited about our plans to bring new homes to Prestatyn.

"The concept is to deliver good quality homes for first time buyers, young professionals and growing families as we are acutely aware of how desperately needed these homes are to the local population.”

One resident, who asked not to be named but lives near the site, said: "We only heard on Friday afternoon and it is the way we have been informed that we are not happy about. We are all up in arms, we already have big issues with flooding.

"We are worried about the Mindale development - the water levels around here are horrendous.

"We know it is a public consultation at this stage but we are devastated. The schools can't cope, the hospital and I know they say it won't, but it will be having a impact on traffic."

Cllr Gareth Davies, of Prestatyn South West ward who received a letter on Saturday from Macbryde Homes about the proposals, said: "After walking down to the site I felt that one notice tied to a lampost at the back of a housing estate wasn't sufficient for local people to have any knowledge of this.

"I've shared the proposal on social media to raise awareness and invite comments and thoughts from local residents as to how they feel about the proposal."
