AN ASPIRING triathlete secured a place in one of the country’s top youth competitions.

Cameron Shaw, a Year 10 pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, has been invited to compete at the British Triathlon Junior and Youth Super Series after a series of standout performances in a competitive environment.

The 15-year-old will now compete against the best young Triathletes in the country at different venues across the United Kingdom, which is sure to be another fantastic experience for the Middle School pupil.

He turned in another outstanding display at the recent Ruthin Triathlon held at the town’s Sports Centre, which saw Cameron emerge victorious in the Junior 15-16 category to further enhance his flourishing reputation.

The Welsh Development Pathway trialist has enjoyed a hugely encouraging young career to date, which has seen him achieve considerable success on a consistent basis at high-profile events across the region.

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, said: “Cameron has worked incredibly hard to improve his conditioning and technique within a Triathlon setting, and this has been reflected with some very impressive recent results.

“Competing in the British Triathlon Junior and Youth Super Series is going to be another significant boost in terms of his overall development, and we are thrilled that he has received a well-deserved invite for the event.”
