Gin fans are in for a treat this weekend as the highest distilled gin in the UK goes under auction to help raise vital funds for Wales Air Ambulance.

‘Summit Gin: Mountaineers Cut’ was produced by the award-winning Aber Falls Distillery and is the first ever gin to be distilled at the top of Mount Snowdon. After receiving special approval from local government, the liquid is also made using botanicals picked from the side of the mountain to help create a truly one-of-a-kind gin.

With only three bottles in existence and only one being available through the auction, gin connoisseurs across the country are gearing up to get their hands on the limited-edition spirit.

All proceeds from the winning bid will go towards the lifesaving work of the Wales Air Ambulance Charity, which provides a lifesaving air ambulance service for Wales’ critically ill and injured patients.

Annually the helicopter charity attends more than 2,500 missions and can be anywhere in the country within 20 minutes. Every year the charitable service needs to raise £6.5 million to keep the four helicopters flying.

The charity auction will launch on Saturday 8th June – World Gin Day – and end on Friday 21st June. During this time, the people of Wales and beyond will have the opportunity to bid for the one-off, limited-edition spirit, by visiting: https://bidaid.org/charity/wales-air-ambulance.

Lynne Garlick, Wales Air Ambulance North Wales Fundraising Manager, said: “This is an incredible gift from the team at Aber Falls. The effort that went into making this gin, the story behind it, and its rarity, makes it valuable in more ways than one. We hope that people recognise this and bid generously in the auction.

“The lifesaving work of the Wales Air Ambulance is only possible thanks to the generosity of our supporters. We truly value our relationship with Aber Falls and will be forever grateful for their ongoing support.”

James Wright, Managing Director at Aber Falls Distillery, said: “What started as a walk to Wales’ highest peak, has grown into an amazing opportunity to make a significant contribution to local charity. With consumer appetite for gin continuing to grow, and the fact that the funds are being donated entirely to charity we hope the auction is going to resonate far and wide.”
