CONWY moved to the North Wales Cricket League Division One summit with a superb nine-wicket triumph at early pacesetters Dolgellau.

The home side managed to post a moderate total of 159 all out from 48 overs in the middle, with Mark Edmonson continuing his fine recent form with the ball to top score with a 35 knock.

Another notable contribution came from Sam Williams, who was at his stubborn best before he was eventually dismissed by Stan Senior for 25 off 100 deliveries, but only Jonathan Lloyd (14) and Will Hannam (20) were able to post a double-figure scores throughout the remainder of the innings thanks to some sustained pressure from the away bowling attack.

Skipper Rajjenu Britto was the pick of the visiting bowlers, claiming three wickets for the loss of 24 runs, with Senior and Graham Meredith claiming a pair of victims apiece.

A superb opening wicket stand from Britto and Shaun Davies ensured the visitors reached their required total with little fuss, as the pair put on 112 before the latter was caught off a Marcus Cheyne delivery on 58.

That was as good as it got for the home side, with Britto finishing the day unbeaten on 54 and Danny Davies saw things out at the other end to conclude proceedings on 24 not out to secure a notable success.

The result leaves Conwy seven points clear at the summit as they gear up for Saturday’s home clash with Hawarden Park.
