A TREMENDOUS knock from Scott Thomas helped Llanrwst secure a six-wicket success at Bethesda.

The North Wales Cricket League Division side have now won their last two and were set a target of 162 all out by the home side, with opener Jez Shea at his stubborn best throughout before he was eventually removed from the crease by Chris Nicholson after making 38 from 112 deliveries.

Fellow Pesda opener and skipper Jonathan Williams also gave a good account of himself until he was trapped lbw by Alwyn Williams on 36, but only Ioan Roberts (24) and Nicholas Parry (11) making it into double figures thereafter thanks to a superb spell in the field from the away side.

Williams was the undoubted star of the show with the ball, helping himself to no fewer than six wickets for the loss of 70 runs from a 12-over spell, with Thomas and Nicholson securing a pair of scalps apiece.

The visitors reached their required target with minimal fuss thanks to a standout performance from Thomas, who smashed 13 boundaries on his way to 80 before he played a Kevin Evans delivery into the hands of Matt Buchanan.

He was ably assisted at the other end by Huw Williams and captain Aron Hughes, who contributed 38 and 23 to seal an impressive success despite Richard Williams making a fight of it with figures of 3-39.

Llanrwst will look to extend their positive run of results this Saturday when they host newly promoted Ruthin.
