LLANDYRNOG 5

CAERWYS 1

AT the ninth time of asking, victory finally came Llandyrnog's way.

It's been a tricky opening month for Jimmy McNally's charges, who picked up a solitary point from their opening eight contests.

However, it all came right for Llandyrnog on Thursday evening courtesy of a 5-1 success in their home meeting with Caerwys.

The home side got their noses in front in the 32nd minute.

Tom Hughes played the ball to Josh Jones, who was able to crack in a powerful effort from just inside the box.

Things got even better for Llandyrnog when Luke Humphreys' fine effort went straight into the top corner of the net and man of the match Josh Jones doubled his tally to make it 3-0.

Jones picked up a long clearance from goalkeeper Matthew Lewis-Williams, carried the ball forward and then drilled a strike from distance into the corner of the net.

Things didn't get any easier for Caerwys and Eddie Evans bagged the home side's fourth goal of the contest, before Russ Moorcroft headed in from a Josh Jones corner to make it 5-0.

Caerwys kept battling away and they would eventually gain some reward for their efforts when Ruari Wood scored a late penalty.

The win saw Llandyrnog make their way out of the bottom-two, while Caerwys slipped to the foot of the standings on goal difference.

Josh Jones, Craig Jones, left back Elis Morris and Matthew Lewis-Williams were all impressive figures on the night for Llandyrnog.
