AN enthusiastic playgroup worker has claimed a top accolade.

Marian Lloyd-Chambers, who is a staff member at Borthyn Bunnies, in Ruthin, won an award at the recent Early Years Wales Awards, which were held at Ruthin Castle.

She was recently nominated by a number of parents and colleagues for the Early Years Wales practitioner of the year award, due to her calm, caring and all round positive attitude to children, parents and colleagues.

She went on to win the award at the ceremony, held at Ruthin Castle on Wednesday, May 8.

One of the parents, Kelly Thompson, said: "Nothing is too much trouble for her and she will go above and beyond to ensure both children and parents are happy."

Donna Roberts, another parent, stated: "Mrs Chambers treats each child as if they're her own.

"My daughter was very shy when she first started at Bunnies, but Mrs Chambers helped settle her in and she came on leaps and bounds."

Marian Lloyd-Chambers said: "(I'm) so grateful and overwhelmed by all of the nominations and I was touched.

"Ysgol Borthyn is a brilliant place because of the children, parents, staff and community, and I am very proud to be part of it."
