BANGOR City have been dealt another blow with the departure of talented youngster Alex Boss.

The electric wide man confirmed to the club that he has decided not to renew his contract at the Eurogold Stadium in favour of a move to JD Welsh Premier League side Aberystwyth Town.

Chairman Stephen Vaughan Jnr, said: "We're sad to see Alex go.

“We offered him a deal to stay with us but he decided he wanted to move on after his contract had expired."

Boss attracted a wealth of interest from clubs across the region after a standout campaign in the Huws Gray Alliance, where he further enhanced his reputation as one of the brightest young prospects operating outside of the top flight.

The Chronicle understands that Llandudno, Porthmadog and Colwyn Bay were believed to be monitoring the situation closely and spoke with Boss, who eventually said he has his sights set on a move to the top flight.

His outstanding form also saw Boss secure a spot in the provisional Ynys Mon men’s football squad for this summer’s Inter Games tournament, where he is expected to play a huge part.

He will now link up with former Citizens’ manager Nev Powell at Aber as he looks to make a name for himself at the top of the Welsh domestic system.

Boss also enjoyed a successful loan spell with Holyhead Hotspur in the second tier before cementing a place in the City senior set-up.
