LLANRWST picked up their first North Wales Cricket League Division One win of the season thanks to an emphatic ten-wicket home triumph over Bersham.

The Rwsters made light work of their opponents after a standout performance with both bat and ball, restricting the visitors to just 68 all out from 21 overs in the middle.

Alwyn Williams’ devastating spell saw him claim the wickets of Nilanka De Silva (6), Richard Smith (0), Aled Davies (5) and Babar Siddiqui (0) to finish the day on 4-10 from just four overs, with Scott Thomas also contributing significantly with the scalps of opening pair Rishan Fernando and skipper Tim Jones for two ducks.

Another good spell from Huw Williams saw him finish on 2-19, with Lee Thomas disposing of top scorer Dilan Jayawardene for 36.

The home side managed to reach their required target with ease and without the loss of a single wicket, which was thanks in no small part to an exceptional unbeaten knock of 53 from Thomas off just 31 deliveries.

Captain Aron Hughes was also there throughout to conclude the innings on 12 not out as they secured victory in double-quick time after eight overs of play.

Hughes’ side will look to build on this positive display this Saturday when they travel to promotion hopefuls Bethesda.
